Level 10 introduces a new crop for Golden Hills: Red Beans. It also introduces the barge for selling products - more below. The game also starts the first set of materials in contracts: Glass and Bricks for building upgrades.
The game has 3 types of materials that are used to grow. The first set introduced is Glass and Bricks at level 10. (If your contracts don't have materials, trash them for a new one with materials.) Every building upgrade in the game will now require Coins, Glass, and Bricks.
Glass is considered 'rare', while bricks are considered 'common'. Contracts of the same dollar value will give 5x as many bricks as glass, yet most buildings require 4x as many to upgrade. At Level 15, you will be able to research improvements for the amount of materials you get from contracts. Glass can be increased by 15% compared to Bricks 25% improvement. So the game has a skew. I tell you this so you know Glass is harder to get, so you want to be more aggressive sending glass contracts than Bricks.
The Barge consists of 2 to 5 crates that you must fill entirely with specific products to send it off. When it returns (cooldown), the crates will be filled with randomly selected materials. The barge gives you the same coin value per product as the Market, but HALF of the materials.
The Barge is the game's method of forcing you to engage with product lines (items and quantities) and it's an inventory drain.
