Level 1 to 3 is a guided tutorial for the basic game functions. All you can do is click exactly where the game tells you to click to complete the initial quests. The game has a good story line to introduce all the characters and give you some insight into how the countryside became what it is today. You can either enjoy the immersion, or simply skip in the upper right corner. Skipping the story doesn't impact the game play. Don't worry about strategy yet—just follow the white hand!
The game world is composed of three separate Homesteads around White Oak Lake. I think it is best to think of them as one large farm in 3 locations. You begin on Sundale, the first Homestead, which features buildings outlined in green on this fansite.
Later in the game, you will unlock the other regions: Golden Hills (Level 8, outlined in gold) and Copper Ridge (Level 16, outlined in copper). Items that are common to all Homesteads are outlined in blue. The Homesteads will interact with each other as the game progresses. Fun fact - you can rename your Homesteads by clicking on the sign over their driveway.
Avoid the XP Trap! Your first instinct might be to complete every quest and click every available item to level up fast. Do NOT do this. Leveling up unlocks new, often expensive, buildings and production chains. If you level up too quickly, you will be faced with costly demands and buildings you cannot afford, running out of coins and stalling your progress. Complete the chapter quests to unlock key game components, and save collecting the regular tasks for strategic leveling up - later in the guide. Your player level has no impact on tournament competition, only product lines and upgrades.
I know a lot of players that made it to level 22 in less than 36 hours. At the same time, they opened many product lines without the ability to expand or upgrade, and only a day of produce to sell for materials. You end up with a little farm that struggles to produce anything and find it's flow. If you delay collecting the regular tasks, it will take closer to a week of moderate to heavy play, but you will end up at level 22 with a robust farm, and a barn full of 6 hour grow time crops.
