There is actually no focus - all you can do is click where they tell you. Level 3 unlocks the feed mill so you can start milling feed for your cows, and introduces Isiah, the market master. At first, the market will only give coins for your produce, later adding glass and bricks when you get to your first upgrade, saws and rakes when you get to your first expansion with materials, and later books and ink for the library. While Isiah 'does' all the work, we know who really runs the market.
The Market is where you use my Rule of 3s to focus on obtaining the materials introduced in Level 2 and build resource buffers.
Divide your resources and products into three flexible categories, then follow the rules below to ensure you always acquire your highest priority materials.
This list references the Level 2 categories:
This system ensures you consistently build a buffer of products and obtain your most important materials.
I will write a larger post in the future to give more details and show how this applies to different areas of the game.
The strategic heartbreak: You will often have to dump a contract that you are fully able to complete. This is necessary! Trashing contracts that ask for Low Focus materials (like Books) ensures you conserve your product stock to immediately fill future contracts that offer High Focus materials (like Glass). Embrace this short-term sacrifice for guaranteed long-term resource optimization.
When you trash or refresh a contract, there is a cool down timer. It starts quick, and will slowly increase as you level up. The same will happen with the barge and train cool downs when you get there. The final market cool down timer is 30 mins, but it can be reduced to 20 mins with research later in the game.
How much does it cost and how long does it take to build the feed mill?
