Level 3 started with a guided tutorial on the market and sending your first contract. After you finish, you will suddenly be given your farm and may feel like you don't know what to do, especially if you are breezing over the storyline.
Very simply, build the feed mill (cause your cows are going to need to eat), and then take a look around your farm. Start some crops, cows and Cannery, and send a few contracts in the market to level up.
Some production buildings, like the Cannery, Feed mill, and Silo, will let you run (stack) multiple batches at a time. Right now, you don't have the resources stocked up to run multiple batches, so the game defaults to 1. You will notice there is a x1 in the middle of the building interface you can adjust before starting. Soon, it will switch and default to the highest number you can make. Multiple batches run in succession, one after the other, without needing you to interact with the building.
The Market offers contracts for coins that you can fill with your produce and send. If you don't like what it is asking for, there is an option to trash or refresh the contract. After a 1 min cooldown, gem, or video, a new contract will appear. This cooldown increases as you level up until around level 15 - need to verify.
So what should you send? Anything that is easy to acquire. Don't be afraid to trash a contract because there will always be another one (after the cool down). Plus, building up stock is a good thing because at level 10, new contracts will include coins and materials, which your farm will need to improve.
Starting at level 4, you can get ad contracts, where it fills for watching an ad. You can only have 1 at a time, so always watch/trash it first so you have a chance of getting another. At level 4, you can also start purchasing more contract slots.
For some reason, many players start chasing 'bigger and better' contracts. Every item in the game has a fixed price and a contract's coin is simply the sum of the product values. 1000 milk is 1000 milk - whether it is sent in 1 contracts or 5. Get into the habbit of looking at the products (and later materials.) Size is just a distraction that can hurt your farm.
There is a 5% variation in market price that I have not figured out yet. It isn't worth worrying about.
